“The Adventures of Alex: Creepy Tree,” about a young boy testing the consequences of his actions, is a fun book with a lesson. Author Lewis A. Howard will talk about his book and his writing process at 2 p.m. on Oct. 22 at University Place Pierce County Library, 3609 Market Place W., Suite 100, University Place. Howard is a mechanic and military veteran who lives in Washington. His two sons were the inspiration for the story.
The fun, illustrated book is geared to young boys just beginning to enjoy reading. Alex, a boy who wants to be a super-hero or a ninja and has a big imagination, conjures a strange tree through his own disobedience. He teams up with his two friends: Eric, who is a daredevil, and Sally, who wears shoulder pads with her dress. Alex learns the monster disappears when he listens to his mother.
